GHISELLINI ARCHITETTI was commissioned by the Municipality of Ferrara to design the new stable market area in Piazza Travaglio, in the historic center of Ferrara.

The public area, currently an urban void mainly dedicated to parking cars, suffers from the contemporary problems of generic and frayed spaces in between, for which it is difficult to identify any proper identity.

The project will have to deal with the possibility of redefining one of its most critical margins – the one close to the fragments of the defensive walls and Porta Paola – with the formation of a small stable open-air market.
